JP and Michelle

Hello, we are JP and Michelle. We appreciate you taking the time to read our and letter and giving us a chance to introduce ourselves. We admire your courage in exploring adoption and we hope this letter will express our sincere commitment to providing the safe and loving home you desire for your child.

We have been together since 2002 and married in 2007. Our strong marriage is based upon shared values, hopes and dreams. When we married we knew that having a family was part of our plan for the future. After experiencing several years of infertility treatments, we have enthusiastically chosen adoption as a way to build our family. We are both excited to start this journey of parenthood and experience the joys that come with it.

We were both born and raised in Canada, but now call Kauai Hawaii our home for the past four years. Our home is on the south shore of the island near schools, parks and beaches. Kauai is a small knit, family oriented island where there is a strong sense of community. Our home is located in a tropical jungle full of mature fruit trees such as avocado, lychee, banana and orange. Hawaii is a melting pot of diversity, and a child of any ethnicity/race will feel comfortable here. We share our home with our two amazing dogs. Marley (Old English Sheepdog) and Bean (Pug) are two very sweet dogs who are extremely gentle in disposition.

JP is a supportive and fun-loving husband with a great sense of humor. His career and passion is being a chef. This career choice has taken him all over the world and he has had the opportunity to cook in multiple countries at high profile events. JP loves surfing, hiking, traveling and anything outdoors. He loves life and looks forward to having the opportunity to teach our child how to surf and explore the many adventure trails found around Hawaii.

Michelle is a caring, generous and talented designer. She grew up on a native Indian reservation which encouraged Michelle to be open minded and nonjudgmental. At a young age, Michelle knew she wanted to create and surround herself in beautiful spaces. This passion led her to choose interior design as her career. She is often sought after by clients to design their Hawaiian homes as Michelle truly creates the feeling of warmth and comfort in her work. Michelle has decided to take time away from interior design to be a stay at home mom. She wants to immerse herself in all the joys of motherhood such as sharing her love of books and stories, going for walks to the beach and celebrating holidays together as a family.

We are so blessed to have family and friends that support us in our decision to adopt. We already have close family members and friends who have adoption in their lives. Our home will be filled with love and joy where our child can grow up healthy and happy. We want to mold our child into a bright individual with compassion and good morals. We know how important family is and will both take active parenting roles to ensure our child feels safe and secure in our home.

We understand how important this decision of adoption is to you and your child. We believe that open adoption will help us become a stronger family and we embrace it with open arms. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and for considering us as adoptive parents to your child.
