Hello! We are Lisa and Simms. Thank you so much for reading our letter. We admire the hope and courage you have in considering adoption. We hope this letter will give you a sense of who we are and our sincere wish to provide a loving home for your child.
We live in Redwood City, California in the San Francisco Bay Area, a place of amazing natural beauty and cultural diversity. We are blessed to be part of a great neighborhood with beautiful parks, good schools and lots of wonderful families. Our home is sunny and spacious with a big backyard – just waiting for a child.
There is so much we want you to know about us! We’ve been friends for over 13 years, together for seven, and married for four. Our marriage is based on love and respect. Our family and friends are an important part of our lives as well, and they are very excited about our choice to build our family through adoption.
Lisa is a kind, warm and loving person who makes life-long friends. She works in admissions for Stanford University where she and Simms met as graduate students years ago. A California-native, she enjoys hiking, camping and long walks in the neighborhood. She also loves the theater – whether she’s up on stage or in the audience. Lisa can’t wait to share her love of nature and the arts with our child. She is also sure to shower our child with love and attention and trips to the zoo and Disneyland.
Simms is a patient and caring man who passionately believes in service to his country and community. He works in finance for technology and alternative energy companies, after serving in the Navy for over a decade. Simms is very active in his community whether serving on school councils, planting trees, or attending city council events. He also is quite a swimmer – finishing the Escape from Alcatraz swim as well as a relay across Lake Tahoe! Simms is very excited about being a dad again. He looks forward to reading stories to our child, teaching him or her to ride a bike, and making his father’s famous banana crepes together.
Simms has a 13-year old son, Wyatt, from a previous marriage. Wyatt is a great student, gifted athlete, and most importantly, a kind and compassionate person. He stays with us half of the time and is looking forward to being a big brother.
Together as a family, we enjoy skiing, camping, and lots of other outdoor activities and sports. We also take advantage of the many great things in our neighborhood like the farmers’ market, family-friendly concerts in the park, the old-fashioned ice cream shop, and our annual block party with tons of kids, “bouncy houses”, good food and neighbors. We love visiting family and friends around the U.S. but can’t wait to come home to our two fat orange tabby cats “G” and Louie! Finally, we enjoy family vacations abroad and have recently visited London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and many parts of Sweden where Lisa has lots of family and friends. We can’t wait to share all of these experiences.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We promise to provide your child with a home full of love and laughter. If you would like to talk to us, we’d love to hear from you!
