Katie Clemmensen

Hi, I am Katie. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I admire your courage in considering adoption and know that it is a decision you are making out of deep love for your child. I appreciate your care in finding a secure, loving, and safe home for your child. I hope that this letter allows you to get to know me and how much I would treasure your child in my life.

Children have always been a huge part of my life. Growing up with my mother who was a teacher and babysitting for family and friends since the age of ten, I often saw the positive impact I could have on the lives of children. When I became a special education teacher, I realized, even more, the importance of standing up for our children and teaching them to shine and be who they are meant to be.

I have always dreamed of having a child but due to medical reasons having a child of my own was not a possibility. My sister Laura chose to grow her family through adoption and adopted my nephew Maverick a few years ago. Watching her raise Maverick opened my eyes to the idea of exploring this option as well.

I grew up in a loving and supportive home with my parents and two siblings in San Jose, California. My family taught me the meaning of unconditional love. We are all very close and I am fortunate to have their support in my decision to adopt. My mom and dad can't wait to have another grandchild around to spend endless hours laughing, playing, reading, and just loving him or her to pieces. My brother and sister can’t wait to be an uncle and aunt and are looking forward to being able to spoil their new niece or nephew.

Living in the Bay Area presents many fun opportunities right outside my door. From zoos, museums, mountains, and beaches, to many local parks, and farmer’s markets, I can’t wait to go on adventures with my child. Having a flexible teaching schedule allows me many opportunities to experience these future adventures with summer and holidays off throughout the year. My family has a place in Tahoe and we love getting together up there to experience the different seasons and all that it offers such as hiking, skiing, swimming, and picnics by the lake. When I have downtime, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, traveling, playing with my nephew, or spending time at home relaxing. I am an active member in my non-denominational Christian church, which offers many family and neighborhood events. Church is an important part of my life that I hope to share with my child.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and for considering me to raise your child. If chosen, your child will grow up understanding that the adoption plan you made was done out of courage and love. I assure you that your child will thrive in a loving and fun home and will always have a connection to you through open adoption. I promise that you will always have a special place in our family and he or she will always know his or her adoption story and heritage.

I am excited to become a parent and to offer unconditional love to a child. I have plenty of room in my life and my heart! I look forward to learning more about you and answering any questions you may have. If you’d like to connect more, I would be honored to speak with you. You can contact me anytime (24/7) at 1(408) 930-6490. Or if you prefer, you are welcome to speak with my adoption counselor Lisa Clark at 1(800) 969-6665.

Thank you, again, I hope to hear from you soon!
